About me

Hi, I’m Aliba Alam — curious by nature, a little obsessed with how people interact with products, and always chasing the thrill of turning small ideas into something meaningful.

I studied Economics at Christ University and later explored Data Science at IIT Roorkee, but honestly, my biggest classroom has been the startup world. I joined Filo when it was just a handful of people and an idea on paper, and I’ve grown right alongside it. Over the years, I’ve built algorithms, launched AI-powered features, run scrappy experiments, and learned what it really takes to scale something from “let’s try this” to “people actually use this every day.”

What excites me most isn’t the numbers (though I love a good dataset), but the people behind them. Every click, every funnel, every feature — it’s a real person deciding if this thing makes their life easier. That’s the challenge I care about.

Outside of work, I dabble a bit in helping build a preschool — handling everything from admin to socials. It was a totally different world, but it reminded me how rewarding it feels to build something from the ground up, no matter the scale.

And when I’m not building? You’ll usually find me nose-deep in fiction (a struggling but enthusiastic reader), geeking out about design psychology, or unravelling the messy way humans make decisions. And while I still feel like a rookie in tech sometimes, I’m the kind of rookie who thrives on learning from the brilliant people around me.

At the end of the day, I’d describe myself as a builder, a learner, and someone who’s happiest when working with great teams on big, messy problems — because that’s where the magic usually happens.

If you made it all the way down here, congrats — you officially know more about me than most of my extended family. Hi Mom.

If you’re like me and want a summarised visual version instead, here you go:

2018-2021

I studied Economics at Christ and somehow balanced a GPA of 3.56/4 with a lot of campus chaos — leading the Economics Association, pulling off fests like Querencia, and working with the Student Welfare and Discipline Committees. My dissertation looked at economic growth in the Middle East, and I even picked up an Extra & Co-Curricular Scholarship along the way.

2024-2025

At IIT Roorkee, I dived into Data Science and AI. My favorite part? A capstone project on predicting flight delays. Lots of messy data, lots of machine learning, and a real glimpse of how tech can make everyday systems a little smarter.

2021-present

I joined Filo when it was just an idea and a tiny team. Since then, I’ve built scheduling algorithms, launched AI-driven features, experimented with funnels and user research, and learned what it takes to scale a product that people actually use every day. It’s been scrappy, intense, and ridiculously rewarding.

Side Hustle

On the side, I help my mother build a preschool — handling admin and socials. Very different from edtech, but a great reminder that building things (big or small) always comes down to trust and creativity.
